Wedding Invitations

Sending out a unique, hand-made, designed just-for-you invitation is a wonderful way to welcome your friends and family to your special event, and give them a precious keepsake that they will keep and cherish for a long time.

The Process

For wedding invitations I work with the couple months before the invitations are due to be sent out. I find out what they like and don’t like, their favorite colors, shapes, smells, foods and sounds. I show them my work and find out what they like about it, and what features they would like included in their card.

After that, I make two or three options of an invitation. After carefully examining them, the couple lets me know what made them happy and what didn’t about my work, and I come up with drafts two and three and four if necessary. We all work together until I hear “YES! THAT’S US!” and see a huge smile.

Then I take a few weeks and make the cards. I also make reply cards, place cards, thank you cards and provide envelopes. You stuff and stamp and label and mail.

Pricing

Surprisingly enough, unique, hand made just-for-you-with-love-and-care invitations don’t cost that much more than the respectable over-the counter brand.

You pay for the materials once we have settled on the final version, and $20 an hour for my time. That includes designing and creating and shopping and cutting and sewing and photocopying and folding and gluing and stamping and whatever else needs to be done. The price, of course, also depends on the total amount you will need. The invitations I have done so far, have ranged between $800 and $1500.
